Las Vegas Wranglers

I was lucky to get to go to Vegas over my fall break as well as home. I was able to catch up with a lot of friends while I was there. It was so nice to see everyone. I never thought I would miss Vegas! I don't know that I miss Vegas but I miss my amazing friends there. I was able to go to my first hockey game on this trip. Hockey is a lot of fun to watch especially the fights. The Las Vegas Wranglers played the Utah Grizzlies unfortunately the Wranglers lost 3 to 5. It was still a lot of fun and I loved spending time with the girls. Thanks Jen for the ticket!!

Ryker Nicholas

I was lucky to be home for fall break when my sweet little nephew was born. Ryker was born Oct 14th at 4:24 a.m. and weighed 7lbs 4oz. He was 19 1/2 inches long. He is so cute. The first picture is of him only a few minutes old. It's still a little hard to grasp that my baby brother is a dad! Emily was a trooper. She made it look so easy :) I'm so glad that I was able to be home and hold the little guy even for just a minute. I LOVE being an auntie!! Congratulations Nick and Em you are going to be GREAT parents!!

Smokin' Hot

Holy smokes.......I came home tonight from some friends house and my apartment is the same temperature as outside! It's 90 degrees INSIDE......I'm seriously melting!! I called the maintenance line and of course they said there is nothing they can do until morning! I hope that I will be able to sleep! Air conditioning in Arizona is NOT an option.......especially in the middle of July! On the positive side....maybe I'll sweat off the two pounds that I need to lose by tomorrow :)

Learning Some Domestic Skills

A little update on my first little bit with my trainer.......The first week was AWESOME!! I was lovin' life and then.......the 2nd week hit and boy have I been sore!! I've been doing well though. I've been working out 6 days a week and eating well. Until tonight that is.......I went to our enrichment night and learned how to make rolls. Homemade rolls are more tempting than candy!! It was fun learning how to make the rolls from beginning to end. I've always helped my Grandma with her rolls but not until the end of the process. It seemed a little intimidating but it really wasn't that bad. We'll see if I say that when I try them on my own :) We've been having weekly cooking classes through the month of July. It's been fun learning the tricks of the trade from some of the more experienced sisters in the ward. I love my ward!! The people in my ward have been such a blessing.

Investing in Myself

Well I finally decided this year to be a bit selfish and take care of myself. I have put off taking care of myself for too long (the scale is really starting to show it). I seem to invest all my time in teaching and coaching that I'm really starting to feel burned out. It's a long time until retirement so this year I'm investing in myself. I splurged on a gym membership and a personal trainer (for this month anyway). This has been my first week. It has been tough but it has felt so great to workout again. I forgot how much I actually like going to the gym (at least once I'm there ;) ) I've been practicing how to say "NO" so I don't get too involved with so much stuff that I once again get put on the back burner. Thanks to all those who've helped me get on track and continue to encourage me to become better!

Tyler Perry's Movies

I am a HUGE Tyler Perry fan. I love his movies they have so many of the greatest lines. If you haven't ever seen one of his movies you need to watch one. They are great! I just watched one of his new ones call "A Family that Preys". At the end the one line that stuck with me was "Are you livin' or are you existin'?" I think that sums up my life in a nutshell right now. I feel like I'm just existing......it's time to start living!! :)

Cardinals......NFC Champs!!

It's been so fun living in Arizona while everyone has Cardinal fever. I'm not a huge NFL fan but it's hard not to catch Cardinal fever with all the celebration going on here!! I will definitely be cheering them on to win the Superbowl :)

Way to go Jags!

My basketball team played against Mountain Pointe tonight and we won 92-39. This was our highest scoring game this season. The best part was every player on the team scored and we had 4 girls in double digits. They really played well as a team. I was very proud of them! It was a very fun game to watch. We have big game against Pinnacle on Friday which is a first regional game. I hope the new year continues to be good to us :)

New Hair Cut

There are some challenges that come from moving to a new place like finding a new hair stylist. I finally found one (she is fabulous) and was able to get my hair done today. Isn't it funny how such a small thing like getting your hair done makes you feel so much better about yourself and feel prettier?? I didn't do anything drastic just cut in a few more layers and trimmed the ends but I have felt a little sassy all day.........What a great feeling!!

Happy New Year!!

I know some of you have been waiting a long time for me to finally update my blog. I haven't really felt like I've had a lot to blog about but by blog is entitled New Beginnings. The new year is yet another new beginning. I will try to update my blog more frequently even if it's just with little things :) Today in Relief Society they shared a little video clip from Elder Busche. I thought it was very profound. I wanted to share it with each of you. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and wish you the best for 2009!!
